STAR WARS, THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY
a fantastic trio of movies that i really, really love.

i've always been fond of them, or well -- the idea of them. i've never actually seen any of the star wars movies until now (besides a four year old me seeing episode one and not really caring much about it because it wasn't winnie the pooh or hbo's crashbox) and i really, really enjoyed myself. i think space sci-fi is so fun! i'm a huge fan of star trek and will be a #trekkie until i die, however i can't overstate how much i enjoyed the primary format being films as opposed to a television show, which is the primary format of star trek. don't get me wrong, the movies are great! but having a character like luke skywalker be presented to you as a bumbling idiot little baby who has only ever farmed water, only to see him six hours later as a jedi at peace is .. really wonderful. i saw his whole journey, his highs and lows, in six hours of my life. star trek the next generation is some of the best space sci-fi ever, but at forty-five minutes per episode, twenty-something episodes per season, and seven seasons in total, it is a magnificent undertaking even if the story is just as worth it! i really appreciate star wars for all that it is, and for everything it stands for. i also really, really, really love ewoks. i've been asking joel every movie, "okay okay.... but does this one have ewoks in it?" i'm already looking into merch. return of the jedi was exactly what i wanted after seeing the last two, and it was my favorite by far. darth vader is such an incredible and layered villain; i completely understand why everyone says he's one of the best, because he really, really is. what a movie!
